1. Why is the title an example of verbal irony.
The title of Swift's essay is an example of verbal irony, for the proposal is hardly modest
it's totally outrageous. Swift's irony is not an end in itself, he used it to exposed who he saw as deep truths. Imagine eating young children!
2. Imagine that you are the editor of an 18th century newspaper. to help your staff decide whether to print this story, write an emailin which you list the pros and cons of publishing it.
To whom it may concern: publishing this newspaper could cause either two outcomes. People will love it and buy more of it or people will dislike it and not buy any more of it. But people would probably go after Swift for creating such a horrible idea.
