THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING

How do you think you are perceived by others? This story deals with situational irony. The example of this is that the King perceives he is loved by everyone.  On his death bed, he discovers that his perception is wrong.  He is not loved by his people.

1. Find examples of situational irony.

The King expects amyas, his closest friend, to be saddened by his death. Instead, he finds that his best friend is already busy trying to win favor with the new monarch. On the other hand, the King expects his jailed enemy to be "gleeful" about his death, but instead, he overhears his enemy expressing regret.

2.Think about the people in the room with the king. Did anything happen that would foreshadow any events? The reader realizes from the people in the room with the King  that he was a bad person.

3.This story has several elements of a folktale. list them

There's a spirit.
There's a moral to the story.
The King has a mission to look for three people to get a wish to live. (three wishes)


4. Write a paragraph explaining what this story is about.

 The King is Dead, Long Live the King is about a King that becomes very sick. a spirit came to him and told him to find three people that would spare his life. the king went to his wife only to find out that she was cheating on him, so they seperated. so the next person he to find was his bestfriend, then he found out the wife was cheating on him with the bestfriend. Everyone in the kingdom realized how much of a bad person he was.
